<p>Veil is a new designer recreational hallucinogen appearing on the streets of [[:Category:Motor City|Motor City]] within the last year, that has been determined to be "very dangerous" and is a banned substance.</p>
<p>The involved compounds have yet to be extensively studied. It is classified as a psychedelic, and has been observed to have hallucinogenic and empathogenic effects, resulting in a solipsistic state (nothing "feels real"). There are unconfirmed, anecdotal accounts that, in some rare instances, use can result in a "psychic experience," including mind-reading or precognition.</p>
<p>Side effects include pupil dilation (mydriasis), twitching, insomnia, appetite loss, heart/blood pressure issues, and increased body heat (hyperthermia), among others. Severe adverse effects can include dehydration, hyperthermia, seizures, muscle pain, severe cardiovascular distress. Can produce long-lasting serotonergic neurotoxicity and associated cognitive and memory deficits as well as psychiatric changes.</p>
<p>It is taken orally, popularly by sucking on popsicle-sticks "painted" with the drug. Requires about 20 minutes to work. Make a HT-2 roll to resist. On a failure, the user suffers the listed effects. This lasts for hours equal to the margin of failure. After that time, the user may roll vs. HT-2 once per hour to shake off the drug’s influence.</p>
