'''Eastwatch''' is a [[Pelervar/Membership Tiers of the Free Cities|chartered city]] on the eastern edge of the [[Pelervar/Council of the Free Cities|Free Cities]], guarding the approaches where the Narrows open toward the Breach and the [[Pelervar/The Crown Lands|Crown Lands]] beyond. Its purpose is in its name: it keeps watch on the eastern sea-lanes, registers and taxes the shipping that moves between the confederation and the kingdom to the east, and serves as the Free Cities' first eye on anything that comes from that direction.

A working harbour, a customs house, and a garrison larger than its size would otherwise warrant give it a frontier character quite unlike the trading cities to the west.
