The '''Inner Sea''' is the calm body of water north of the [[Pelervar/Zahari Passage|Zahari Passage]], ringed along its northern shore by the [[Pelervar/The Elven Lands|Elven Lands]]. It belongs to no single ruler, but it is claimed and protected by the elven realm of [[Pelervar/Elandris|Elandris]] under the Inner Sea treaties and overseen by the [[Pelervar/Glossary#The Inner Sea Authority|Inner Sea Authority]], with patrols drawn from Elandris, [[Pelervar/Port Arenhold|Port Arenhold]], and the Authority's own wardens.

The elves guard it closely and dislike seeing its waters worked for their resources — a protectiveness that puts them at quiet odds with Free Cities merchants who would like freer use of so rich a sea. It is the reason [[Pelervar/Port Arenhold|Port Arenhold]], on the strait between the two waters, is governed unlike any other Free City.
