The '''Zahari Passage''' is the trade-sea at the heart of the [[Pelervar/The Free Cities Region|Free Cities Region]] and the confederation's main artery, linking [[Pelervar/Ardaene|Ardaene]], [[Pelervar/Port Arenhold|Port Arenhold]], [[Pelervar/Galvorn|Galvorn]], and [[Pelervar/Blacktide Haven|Blacktide Haven]] and running on to the [[Pelervar/Inner Sea|Inner Sea]]. It is the source of most of the region's wealth.<br />

As [[Pelervar/Membership Tiers of the Free Cities|shared waters]], it belongs to no single city and is governed by treaty, maritime custom, harbour law, and patrol agreements, with [[Pelervar/Law, Charters and Commerce#Prize law|prize law]] applied where relevant. No single city is trusted to hold it outright; it is patrolled chiefly by the fleets of Ardaene and Port Arenhold under the common treaties.<br />

It is also storm-prone and plagued by piracy. Sailors will tell you, low in the tavern, that not every pirate on the Passage is the free agent he appears — that some strike too cleanly, or vanish too conveniently, to be acting for no one but themselves.<br />
