Deviations from The Show
While I've tried to leave as much of the Show's structural elements intact as I can tolerate, not everything will appear in the campaign as depicted. Some key considerations:
- Correct Cretaceous land-masses (not Pangea); see TBD.
- "Made-up" dinosaurs from the Show will be replaced with appropriate species; see TBD.
- Campaign will instead be set at 70mya ±5mya (the Show was ~85mya).
- The Show's canonical timeline is in effect, though some of the details will differ.
- The post-Show comic-book will not be considered canonical (but some elements may get used).
- "Homeline"/"Backline" replaces the Show's "Twentyone-Fourtynine" reference (which is out-of-date at this point anyway).
- The corporation responsible for the takeover is Riko Mining, Inc.(RikoM) (the corporate entity(s) is never named in the Show).
Show-Relevant Additions
- Addition of the GCPA (Global Climate and Population Administration) governing body, which runs Hope Plaza operations.
- This campaign exists as an alternate-reality within the Daniverse; standard Daniverse elements will apply.
- What was once the United States is now the United Commonwealth (UnCom), which is, practically, a one-world-government, and ultimately, an oligarchy puppeteered by wealthy corporations (see above).

Public Knowledge
There are a lot of facts about the Terra Nova situation that are revealed to watchers of the Show, but are not necessarily known to the average Commonwealth citizen.
Known
- The Fracture is tethered in “real-time” to a specific space-time; real-time connection is a bit compressed, 1:1.75(?)
- The Fracture most-often manifests too weakly or briefly to allow large objects to pass, but will generally allow two-way communication in bursts. Colonists generally record “mail” to be sent when communication is open; supply requests and technical/scientific data have priority.
- Hope Plaza suffered from a "reactor failure," requiring it to be shut down for repairs for ~a year.
- Portal is unstable, as a result of the damage.
- Mail services through the Fracture have been (temporarily) suspended or greatly curtailed to prioritize emergency transmission.
Unknown
- Gen. Philbrick was sent to replace Taylor and was killed there.
- 11th Pilgrimage (some) was blown up on arrival.
- Hope Plaza, and ultimately, Terra Nova, was forcibly taken over by RikoM/Phoenix Group.
- Hope Plaza was hit by a bomb by someone (Jim Shannon) from Terra Nova to prevent RikoM from using it to move materiel Homeline or support Phoenix Group.
- The Probe was destroyed/disabled during the RikoM/PG assault, meaning the public declaration that the Fracture opened to an "alternate timeline" is false (or no longer "proven true").
- Communication through the Portal can be done on-demand (known only to 6ers, RikoM, Phoenix Group, and a few command-level Terra Novans).
- Portal can be made to go both ways (known only to 6ers, RikoM, Phoenix Group, and a few command-level Terra Novans). Even fewer know anything about "the box."
- Occasional transmissions (materiel or data) occur out of time-sync; some transmissions are lost, some early, some late.
- Terra Nova colony is, generally, struggling.
The Shannons Incident
After the The Phoenix Group occupation was repelled, Mira retreated with them to the Badlands. But once she was informed the two-way Portal access could not be restored, she fell into despair over not being able to return to her daughter in Homeline. Filled with rage at the Shannons being responsible for "destroying Hope Plaza" (not entirely true, as it turns out), she returned to Terra Nova wearing a bomb-vest, crept into the colony, found the Shannons at home, and confronted them. Mira is reported to have muttered "Justice Is Inescapable" before detonating the bomb.
- Jim and Elizabeth were both killed instantly
- Josh lost his right arm
- Zoe lost both legs
- Maddy was away with Mark at the time, and was not directly injured
- Some bystanders were injured as well
There was a big funeral ceremony for Jim & Elizabeth, and speeches about unity and such. The remains were interred at Memorial Field. Afterward, talking about it isn't so much "illegal" as "frowned upon" by the administration, and referred to only as the "Shannons Incident." However, underneath, it is acknowledged that the Shannons often suffered from some level of "Main Character Syndrome" ;), tending to go off half-cocked, in defiance of orders (especially Jim, but Elizabeth and Maddy have had their moments as well); quietly referred to as "pulling a Shannon."
Trivia
- Riko Mining is also the patron corporation in the Steel Ships & Space Marines adventure, Replacement Miners
