Details

Gregory emigrated from southern Ireland with his family around 1850, and ended up in California doing whatever work he could find; ranching, railroad, construction, &c. So far west, the War never quite affected him, though he tended to voice support for the South when the inevitable, drunken, political argument would arise from time to time. As the years dragged on and his fortunes didn't improve, he decided to try his hand at prospecting; he arrived in the California District in 1873 as part of the Company contingent, and began working a claim. After about six months, having not amounted to much, he gave up on mining, sold back his claim, and eventually found work at the Kimble Ranch. As he had stayed on at the ranch after the California investors folded, he became the foreman (mostly by default).

  • Very-obviously Irish
  • Ulysses Murphy's supervisor at Kimble Ranch
  • Thinks he can run things better than Enoch Kimble (and maybe he's right?)
