Details
Gregory emigrated from southern Ireland with his family around 1850, and ended up in California doing whatever work he could find. He arrived in the California District in 1873 as part of the Company contingent, and began working a claim, for a year or so before it dried up, having not amounted to much. Afterward, he sold back his claim and found work at the Kimble Ranch, eventually becoming the foreman.
