Details
Came out west to California in 1849 with his wife and kids, like so many others, to prospect for gold. He made just enough money back then that he was able to start a supply business, and leave the prospecting to others. His kids eventually grew up and moved away to prospects of their own. He moved his business to San Fransisco, but found he didn't care for the "big city life" much. When Massey came looking for a "logistics specialist," Jed signed on, and went with him to the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado to support the mining camp there. He and his wife have been in Babylon since the beginning, and as things have dried up, he's been worried he might be one of the last ones in town when it finally dies.
