From terranova.fandom.com:

Terra Nova is a television series developed by Steven Spielberg with Fox Studios, about a family from the future who are transported back in time to the era of dinosaurs. It has been described as "Land of the Lost, but fancy." Brannon Braga (Star Trek, Flash Forward and 24) served as showrunner while Spielberg as a Executive Producer with Peter Chernin. The series was written by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel. It premiered on September 26, 2011.

GM's Version

Essentially, "What if the Show was, instead, written as a collaboration between Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton?" mixed with the Daniverse.

Deviation from the Show

While I've tried to leave as much of the Show's structural elements intact as I can tolerate, not everything will appear in the campaign as depicted. Some key considerations:

  • This campaign exists as an alternate-reality within the Daniverse; standard Daniverse elements will apply
  • The Show's canonical timeline is in effect, though some of the details will differ
  • "Made-up" dinosaurs from the show will be replaced with appropriate species; see TBD
  • Campaign will instead be set at 70mya ±5mya (the Show was ~85mya)
  • The post-Show comic-book will not be considered canonical (but some elements may get used)
  • Addition of the GCPA (Global Climate and Population Administration) governing body, which runs Hope Plaza operations
  • "Homeline"/"Backline" replaces the Show's "Twentyone-Fourtynine" reference (which is out-of-date at this point anyway)

See [TBD] for more details

Campaign Summary

This campaign picks up almost two years after the Show left off, after Hope Plaza had been sufficiently repaired, and Pilgrimages resumed. The PCs are a team of clandestine assets assembled and tasked by the Agency, permanently immigrated to Backline/Terra Nova as part of the 13th Pilgrimage along with their immediate families, to covertly observe-and-report on the shenanigans of the increasingly uncooperative and (by rumour) paranoid Commander Taylor—which he will not be at all happy to discover. It will be a emergent-narrative sandbox, tethered to a hub-town (Terra Nova), featuring a handful of starting objectives that should take the PCs "OTG" (Outside The Gate) often. It is intended to feature an "action/techno-thriller" style, and should strike a balance between combat and non-combat activity.
