Solverath is the god of light, remembrance, and the driving out of dark things — and the most widely loved faith in the Free Cities. Come into any town at dusk and you will find a pale flame already lit against the dark. His doctrine is simple: he does not destroy darkness, he banishes it and keeps its record, for what is forgotten returns with greater power.
Common people cherish his clergy for the healing and shelter they give freely. Yet the faith is quietly complicated at its heights by the weight of three centuries of difficult decisions made in his name. Solverath's patience is not the same as forgiveness; it is said his silence on the things done in his name is not approval. Whether he condones or merely endures what his Order has become is a question even his clergy cannot answer.
Order of the Pale Flame
Institutional monotheism; exclusive devotion expected. A formal brotherhood and sisterhood of clerics, scholars, and holy warriors, governed by a High Prelate and an inner Conclave. The Order keeps waystation shrines on every major road, offers healing freely to travellers, and maintains the most comprehensive historical records in the region. Members light a pale flame each dawn and recite the Names of the Gone, a prayer for the remembered dead, and wear white robes whenever acting in the Order's name. Followers are discouraged from worshipping other gods, though Thren's roadside blessings are quietly tolerated for those who travel.
