Background
Heaven does not send Malakim lightly. When the gates of Hell open and darkness spreads unchecked, the Archangel of the Sword calls his elite warriors — angels forged not from light or song, but from unyielding will. Cassiel was one of these. A Malakite of the Second Choir, born of obedience, duty, and wrath, he has no concept of fear, only purpose. Where other angels see humanity’s beauty, Cassiel sees only what must be protected — and what must be destroyed. Cherebel summoned him to the Hall of Blades, where the walls hum with celestial resonance. There, Cassiel was given his mission:
“A great Evil™ is awakening in the city of Men called Motor City, and its nature is obscured from us. The Vampire Courts there have risen unchecked for far too long now, and we believe they are behind it. Go, Cassiel. Wield the Sword. Reveal whatever it is they are setting in motion and break it, and drive them back into the pit.”
Cassiel crossed the veil between Heaven and Earth like a falling star, burning through reality until his essence tore into Detroit’s skyline. But angels are not whole here — to act, he must wear mortal flesh. His chosen host was Michael “Mick” Dempsey, a 34-year-old Detroit EMT who died in a car crash on I-75 while trying to save a patient. Mick’s soul ascended peacefully, leaving his body an empty vessel. Cassiel entered, knitting flesh and bone back together, walking the streets alive again, but carrying no memory of Mick’s life. To mortals, he is just another man. But beneath the surface, Cassiel is something more — a being of celestial wrath bound by oaths older than humanity itself. If his host body dies, Cassiel will fall back into the celestial realm — and when the Sword wills it, he will return, wearing another form, until his mission is complete or he is permanently unmade.
