Born in 1855 in Montana, Lucy is (a) younger sister to Enoch Kimble. She grew up dreaming of being married to some well-to-do fellow that would dote upon her every wish. She did marry in 1875, but it quickly went sour; her husband's prospects turned out to be entirely imaginary and his affections rough. According to Lucy, she abandoned her husband in Montana and fled south. She has refused so far to reveal any of the details, but it's easy to conclude it "didn't go well." Having heard about the silver boom in southwest Colorado, she sought out her brother there. She came to live at his ranch, while she "shops around" for a lucky miner, with bags of silver and gold, willing to marry her and give her the easy life on the frontier. But by the time she got here in early '77, things were already starting to dry up.
